\nused to call them that whole group

\nyou know Marlon Brando, Robert De Niro and

\nAl Pacino. He called it "Italian Street

\nhe says Well lets do a little bit of "Italian street acting" now

\nIt was a real divide and I
\nremember

\nin the early days on Broadway
\nwhen you went to rehearsal

\nin the early fifties people like Catherine Cornell

\nWho I was in two plays with

\nI mean, you went to rehearsal in a shirt and tie.

\nand a coat. It was the polite thing to

\neverybody was mister. The stage manager
\ncalled you mister plumber

\nno matter how larger or smaller part you

\nthere was courtesy about the theatre in those
\ndays

\nyou'd go for go for a drink down at the bar

\nyou mix with the Italian Street actors
\nas we called them

\nall the Method actor boys, who came to rehearsals in t-shirts &

\ntorn jeans. It was a wonderful mix in

\nit just started to happen we all hated each other. We'd say lets beat them

\nThey'd say lets beat those Limey Poofs
