An Introduction for Visitors at the Elgin & Winter Garden Theatres<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>

On the third floor of the Cascading Lobbies, you will see that part of this space is being developed as the home of <\/span>Canada\u2019s Theatre Museum.<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

What you will see today<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The Preview\u00a0<\/span><\/b>is\u00a0a\u00a0<\/span>rotating\u00a0temporary\u00a0display\u00a0which brings together objects from the\u00a0museum\u2019s\u00a0collection along with loans from theatres and personal archives. Each edition highlights items connected to broader stories in Canadian theatre.\u00a0Today we feature items from the recent global touring production of\u00a0<\/span>Mahabharata<\/i><\/strong>\u00a0by Why Not Theatre.<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>

Positioned at the entrance to a larger exhibition area that will open after renovations, the Preview exhibitions offer an early glimpse of what our museum will reveal.\u00a0\u00a0Our offerings will invite you to consider the people, contexts, and creative processes behind Canadian theatre, including dance, opera, circus, puppetry and more!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The museum is a work in progress! Plans for more permanent exhibitions include an introduction to Canadian theatre and feature exhibitions exploring major themes and influences shaping theatre in Canada. Spotlight exhibitions and temporary pop-up displays will respond to events in theatre, society, and the wider world. Canadian theatre history is a window into the evolution of our cultural identities and Canadian culture. There is so much to be proud of.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>
