Still With Us<\/em>\u00a0est un ouvrage marquant qui r\u00e9fl\u00e9chit aux effets d\u00e9vastateurs du VIH\/sida sur le milieu de la danse au Canada. Dirig\u00e9 par Christopher House, longtemps directeur artistique du Toronto Dance Theatre, il tient \u00e0 la fois de l\u2019archive et du m\u00e9morial, de la c\u00e9l\u00e9bration et de l\u2019invitation \u00e0 la r\u00e9flexion. Au c\u0153ur de ce livre se trouvent les nombreux artistes et coll\u00e8gues du milieu de la danse emport\u00e9s par la maladie. Il rassemble des r\u00e9cits et des images de celles et ceux qui sont d\u00e9c\u00e9d\u00e9s, ainsi que de membres de leur famille, d\u2019ami\u00b7e\u00b7s, d\u2019amant\u00b7e\u00b7s et d\u2019autres proches aidant\u00b7e\u00b7s; il donne aussi la parole \u00e0 des artistes de la danse vivant aujourd\u2019hui avec le VIH, \u00e9voque des gestes courageux de soutien, ainsi que des \u0153uvres chor\u00e9graphiques cr\u00e9\u00e9es en r\u00e9ponse \u00e0 la pand\u00e9mie. Through our event programming, we aim to reflect Canada\u2019s Theatre Museum\u2019s mission to connect the past, present, and future of Canadian theatre.\u00a0We\u2019re\u00a0inspired by the breadth and diversity of theatre stories and realities it reflects – in artists\u2019 practices, in communities, in lived\u00a0experience.\u00a0<\/p>

Travis Knights – Tap Dance is Political: Bill Robinson and The Harlem Renaissance\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>

On February 25, we were moved by\u00a0Tap Dance is Political: Bill Robinson and The Harlem Renaissance<\/em>, a lecture-demonstration by Travis Knights that showed us why tap dance is a powerful act of cultural resistance. Through live performance and storytelling, Travis traced how Black artists like Bill \u201cBojangles\u201d Robinson used rhythm, movement and stage presence to challenge racist barriers and shape representation during the Harlem Renaissance and beyond.<\/p>

Thank you to\u00a0dance<\/em>\u00a0Immersion<\/a>, our presenting partner, and to\u00a0<\/strong>Dance Collection Danse<\/a>\u00a0for their collaboration on the history of Tap dance exhibition component.\u00a0<\/p>

Playwrights Canada Press Book Winter Book Launch<\/strong><\/p>

On February 2, we held a wonderful evening of readings and conversation, celebrating some of the newest Canadian plays, shared in the playwrights\u2019 own voices. It was a chance to hear fresh work from some of Canada\u2019s most acclaimed and influential writers.\u00a0<\/p>

These readings offered a spectrum of perspectives, reflecting both the realities and life experiences in Canada and the shared histories and universal human questions we keep returning to.<\/p>

The Citadel Theatre 60th Anniversary<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>

The Citadel Theatre celebrates being\u00a0Live Since \u201965<\/em>\u00a0in its extraordinary 60th Anniversary Season! Located in the heart of Edmonton\u2019s vibrant Arts District, the Citadel is one of Canada\u2019s most beloved non-profit professional theatres.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

From its first opening night in November 1965 in the Old Salvation Army building on 102nd Avenue to the debut of its current home on 99 Street, the Citadel has been a cornerstone of Edmonton\u2019s cultural life.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

Presenting a diverse range of productions, including classic plays, contemporary Canadian works, musicals, and family-friendly performances, it offers audiences exceptionally high-quality, inventive live experiences that transport them to worlds beyond their imagination. Notably, the Citadel has participated in the development of productions such as\u00a0Hadestown\u00a0<\/em>et\u00a0SIX\u00a0<\/em>which went on to acclaimed runs on Broadway, underscoring the Citadel\u2019s national and international impact.\u00a0<\/p>

The Citadel houses five performance spaces, supported by classrooms, rehearsal halls, and the lush Lee Pavilion. Each year, it welcomes roughly 130,000 ticketed patrons and another 200,000 visitors who take part in education programs, community events, and public gatherings. As a non-profit, the theatre champions accessibility and inclusivity while nurturing artists at every stage of their careers. Through the Foote Theatre School, the Citadel offers classes, workshops, and camps that cultivate emerging talent and inspire the next generation of theatre-makers.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
