Le 13 ao\u00fbt 2025 \u00e0 19 h, nous avons v\u00e9cu une soir\u00e9e sp\u00e9ciale avec la sc\u00e9nographe de renom\u00a0Astrid Janson<\/strong>,<\/a> dont le travail dans le th\u00e9\u00e2tre canadien a longtemps fusionn\u00e9 la politique et la satire avec une conception visuelle saisissante. En conversation avec le metteur en sc\u00e8ne, dramaturge et librettiste Matthew Jocelyn<\/a><\/strong>ancien directeur artistique et g\u00e9n\u00e9ral du Canadian Stage, ancien directeur de l\u2019Atelier du Rhin en France, et Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres \u2014 Astrid a \u00e9voqu\u00e9 son exp\u00e9rience en mati\u00e8re de sc\u00e9nographie li\u00e9e au th\u00e9\u00e2tre politique. Elle est revenue sur ses d\u00e9buts au Toronto Workshop Productions (TWP), ses audacieuses collaborations avec Deanne Taylor et Michael Hollingsworth de VideoCabaret, ainsi que sur ses projets plus r\u00e9cents avec Djanet Sears.<\/p>

Cet \u00e9v\u00e9nement a explor\u00e9 la mani\u00e8re dont la conception de costumes et de d\u00e9cors peut incarner la critique politique et susciter la provocation th\u00e9\u00e2trale. Les cr\u00e9ations de Janson pour \u00ab The War of 1812 \u00bb et \u00ab Trudeau and the FLQ \u00bb, actuellement pr\u00e9sent\u00e9es dans notre exposition pr\u00e9liminaire, en sont de parfaits exemples. Les deux pi\u00e8ces font partie de \u00ab The History of the Village of the Small Huts \u00bb, le cycle th\u00e9\u00e2tral l\u00e9gendaire de Michael Hollingsworth qui porte un regard sur l\u2019histoire canadienne \u00e0 travers une forme de th\u00e9\u00e2tre politique incisive et rythm\u00e9e. Le travail de Janson sur les costumes \u2014 extravagant, symbolique et sombrement dr\u00f4le \u2014 donne vie \u00e0 la satire : pour d\u00e9finir le pouvoir, la vanit\u00e9 et le chaos sur sc\u00e8ne.<\/p>

En plus de son travail th\u00e9\u00e2tral, Astrid a \u00e9galement \u00e9voqu\u00e9 certaines de ses autres aventures en mati\u00e8re de cr\u00e9ation \u2014 EXPO 86, Conklin Calgary Stampede et plus encore \u2014 qui refl\u00e8tent sa passion durable pour le th\u00e9\u00e2tre politique.<\/p>
